"The Jewel of Georgetown"

More About the Inn

In 1891 physician/surgeon Dr. F.F. Bryan purchased a lot from James Y. Kelly on West Main Street..  Construction began of a stately red brick Queen Anne.  A front elliptical window of stained glass and other windows are set off with rusticated stone archwork.

Porches are neo-classical.  The interior features 11 foot ceilings, magnificent inlaid strip oak flooring, walnut woodwork in the grand hall and staircase, and elaborate plastered ceilings on the first floor.

Dr. F.F. Bryan, the son of Dr. Robert Bryan of Georgetown, was a physician/surgeon who was very prominent in his field.  He was "called to Chicago and other large cities to either perform or assist some of the most noted surgeons of the country performing operations."  He studied at Columbia University and Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Frank Bryan resided in the home with his "Happy family".  He was known as a man of considerable wealth.

The house still sits on several lots on the corner of West Main Street & Kelly Avenue
